Return to La Paz and the Maranatha RV park. 12.2.21
Today was an easy drive of 69 miles. We traveled back over the mountains leaving the Sea of Cortez behind us, sadly, and again drove through El Triunfo, then back to the Maranatha Park. This time we had a chance to visit with the owner who was working with some of his employees to improve the WiFi which we thought of as pretty good when we were here before. He told us that his parents bought the park and land in the 60's. He was born in the states but raised in La Paz. It was bought originally to create a place for vacation bible camps and they have continually worked to improve the buildings used for that purpose. There is a large well maintained pool which we have enjoyed during our stays here that becomes a central place for the children coming in to the camp. This is one of the most up to date RV parks with the most upgrades we have stayed in. Many RV parks which existed 10 years ago are disappearing as the development of condos for visitors increases. A bible camp group is coming in on Saturday. We look forward to seeing the kids.
Tonight we are going to a Baja Amigo hosted dinner at Los Magueys in La Paz. A good time was had by all except those who were right in front of the musicians who played beautiful music but for a while and quite loudly. Kristina and Paul were the closest and it was too hard to turn around to see them and still enjoy their dinner. The last song they did, and the woman singing had a beautiful voice, was Silent Night in Spanish. There was more than one person who had tears in their eyes at the end. Some even said it made them a little homesick. That was the first that had ever been expressed on this trip.
From the left front, Euclid and Ruth, Judy and Jim, Greg, Ann stayed home, Bill and Liz, Dave and Darlene, Kristina and Paul, Mary and George, Kirk and Diane on the upper right. It was a good evening.
That's great picture of the whole gang of road warriors
