Potluck Day 12.1.21

This was an exploration day for many of the group to go exploring around Los Barriles. Kirk and Diane as well as Euclid and Ruth rented Quads and explored the wash, and also went up the coast to another beach. They were having lunch there when Greg and Ann walked in after driving the same very rough road or more like trail into the restaurant. They all had great tales to tell when we met later that evening for the potluck.

Here are Mary and George enjoying the good food and conversation at the potluck. They are the quad riders in the group having towed their machine for the whole trip on a trailer. They have gotten to do some close exploring of the towns we have visited and often find little out of the way places down roads even our pickups can't handle. It is their toad. They leave their cabover camper in camper and head out for adventures nearly every day.

Here is Dave enjoying dinner with Darlene at the table behind him. There are our #1s as our intrepid leaders and literally number 1 in our caravan as we all use the same placement in each caravan drive. Dave we have found out loves music and has played drum since he was a teenager. He has a drum from Baja which he sometimes plays on the beach to everyone's enjoyment. He has even played in some bands in the past and is rumored to have a love of the blues. Diane is at the end of her and Kirks Class B. They had a good campsite near the beach so we all enjoyed.

In this picture with the sunset in the background are Bill, in foreground, next Liz, Paul in back of Liz, and Kristina in pink. Paul was doing his great camera work focused on the sunset.

Some of us walked the beautiful beach, enjoyed watching the wind surfers and enjoyed the day in camp. We all agreed Los Barriles and Playa Norte RV Haven north of town with great beach access is a find and many would love to return. The town is full of good restaurants of all types, it is walkable, and not yet overwhelmed with places built for expats and the very rich. Our park has secluded sites with trees and flowers and the wifi workspace was a joy.

This bougainvillea vine had completely taken over a tree next to a campsite and was blooming profusely.

I have yet to identify this bush and it's yellow trumpet vines which grows all over this area and just happen to line the sides of our site. It was a roosting place for a bird, I think it was a starling that tried to fight with the image of itself in our windows every morning. It drove Tucker nuts.

I could not resist, just one more sunrise at Los Barriles. Speaking of sunrises, when we gathered, hooked up for our morning briefing before leaving for Las Paz. Dave told about his surprise as he was also up taking pictures of the sunrise. He was aiming his camera when a woman who was bathing nude on the beach came into his view finder. What he told us was that he quickly reaimed his camera when she looked up and noticed him. This story led to lots of harassment of Dave and much laughter. It was a good way to leave La Paz. I think this journey has made us all more relaxed and accepting of the different ways one can do life.
