Beach and Errands in Los Barriles 11.29.21
This was a slow morning for many of us after our "margarita" gathering last night but all of us had tasks to catch up on. After our days at Tecolote Playa which was a dry camp, our supplies of purified water, sanitary water and propane were running low. Groceries and gas needed to replenished as well as Mexican pesos at the ATM and, of course, finding a laundry. It was a Monday and most vendors are closed on Sunday so many others were also out trying to find the same supplies. During the day we learned some things about Los Barriles. The town had been out of water for three days and only on Sunday when we came into the RV park had water been restored. We searched for a purified water vendor and a propane supplier who could refill our trailer tanks without any luck. Dave and Darlene contacted the RV owner and went searching for both necessities for us on the 30th while the rest of us took a van to San Jose near Cabo for the day. We did not learn until 12.1 that the owner of the purified water supply store and died in this last year and no one had taken over his business. Dave checked where the store used to be and found it to be a restaurant now but the owner said no problem he could fill out containers with purified water. Problem solved and dear Dave delivered the water to our sites while we were gone. The propane for our smaller tanks was also solved by Dave and Darlene who had continued to try to reach a fellow who comes in to the park with a big tank and an adapter so he could fill our smaller tanks. This was accomplished on 12.1 also. We us propane to run our refrigerators since the electrical supply can have surges.
Jim and I found that at the grocery store there were ice chests sitting by the check out which turned out to hold still hot fresh tortillas which we took home for a great taco lunch with some left over pork chop we had barbecue. The lunch and a nap and decorating the trailer with Christmas lights and a wreath took up a lovely afternoon. We went to a restaurant named the La Casita for a very Norte Americano dinner of sushi and shrimp penne. The menu was all in English and the patrons where either expats or tourists like us but the food was great and the ice cream on the apple strudel homemade.
Diane and Kirk as well as Ruth and Euclid took a van into town which dropped them off and picked them up. They also found a wonderful place to eat lunch. Others finished and went exploring Los Barriles and towns around us. We have found that dry camping on the beach is a experience that gives us all a chance to move slowly, take in the sun and just spend time with each other while some, like Greg and Ann like to take trips around and explore the nooks and crannies of the area. Coming to a full service park brings us partially back to the world but not quite since it requires the needed walks on the beach which some parks.
Tucker needs at least two beach walks a day, he insists, since he had to go with us on those boring errands this morning. He makes us know that quiet walk time is the most important especially when you meet new dog friends to run circles with. He thinks people should do that daily!
