Doing The Miles

Tonight we are in Bakersfield and as Tucker is illustrating, our tails are dragging. Sometimes you just have to do the miles. We managed to get lost in Tulare trying to get back on the freeway. We saw so many homeless encampments dangerously close to the freeway in many places especially along 99. Some were perched on embankments that were steep and I was concerned that one of these people could get confused during the night and fall down into the freeway. The wide gulf seems to grow daily between those who are comfortable and those who have nothing. This is a GOP stronghold in Fresno, Kern and Fresno counties and is Devin Nunes home place. These counties certainly don’t have a lock on homelessness though, many areas of California have also not fixed this inequity. Tonight we rest up for our drive tomorrow to south of San Diego and Potrero. We are together with Paul and Kristina, they are a couple of spaces down the way at Orange Grove RV. This park is our go to when ever we head down south as they have three dog play areas. PipĂ and Tucker had some time together as they are best friends at home. Orange Grove always has fresh hot donuts to pick up as we pull out tomorrow. The rule of the road is junk food is just fine when you are traveling.

  1. Yeah, Bakersfield is probably best viewed through your rear view mirror.
